What do the new codeine laws mean for workplace drug testing?
Since 1 February 2018, a person buying medicines containing codeine needs a prescription.
So, it follows that if a person who returns a laboratory positive drug test and is taking medications containing codeine, they will need to show evidence they have a valid prescription.
But what if they are using up an old pack? And who should make that determination?
