How does it work?
Best Practice
Occupational Hygienists use a scientific approach to measure the extent workers are exposed to hazards. If your organisation has had no assessment, then we recommend the following process:
- baseline qualitative health risk assessment
- an initial site visit and hazard characterisation – this a “walk-through” survey which enables us to identify the range of hazards present.
- occupational exposure monitoring program design
- development of sampling strategy and exposure profiling (SEG’s) – monitoring must be carefully designed to ensure statistically significant outcomes.
- occupational exposure assessment – monitoring
- monitoring enables us to determine exposure risks and inform risk control programs.
